Lot 132:
Description
A pair of early 20th century brass toasting forks. The left implement features a finial depicting a standing figure, possibly a soldier or guard, on a base faintly inscribed "SCARFE’S LIFE". Its ornate lower end displays a rope-twist design surrounding a central ring with three pointed prongs. The reverse of this section is clearly marked "FEB 26 1912". The right implement is topped with a finial of a seated, shaggy-maned lion, and its lower end is an openwork scrolling design with three curved prongs or hooks.
