Lot 47:
Description
A large antique utilitarian liquid measure or pouring can constructed of copper or a copper alloy. The container features a tall cylindrical body with visible vertical seams and riveted construction, consistent with primitive or farmhouse copperware often associated with French or American dairy or gardening use. The top features a large hinged lid assembly that tapers sharply into a conical spout with a circular opening. A fixed arched carrying handle is secured to the rear of the lid/spout assembly. A small, shield-shaped metal element or patch is visibly secured with rivets near the base on the front face of the body. The item exhibits characteristics of a watering can or large liquid measure, showing heavy aging from prolonged use.
Height (to top of handle): 15 inches
