Lot 145:
Description
A pair of antique pulley blocks, commonly referred to as block and tackle, constructed primarily of heavily weathered wood and robust iron fittings. The lot comprises two distinct units. The first is a smaller single-sheave block featuring a thick iron eyelet attachment. The second, larger unit is a multiple-sheave block, visibly containing four wooden sheaves, and fitted with a substantial, heavily oxidized iron hook. Both blocks are fabricated from darkened, cracked wood components secured by thick wrought or cast iron straps, sheaves, and fasteners. These items are consistent with heavy-duty industrial, factory, or marine rigging use. No manufacturer’s marks or period inscriptions are legible on either piece.
