Description
This is an American earthenware bean pot manufactured by McCoy Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. The vessel is identified as model number 342 and features a double-handled form with a two-tone glaze. The upper portion, handles, and interior are finished in a dark brown drip glaze, while the lower body is finished in a cream-colored glaze. A transfer-printed fruit motif is located on one side, depicting a central peach or apple surrounded by red cherries and leaves. The base is impressed with the marks 342, MCCOY, a stylized circular logo, OVENPROOF, and USA. This piece is a piece of utility ware produced during the late 20th century.
