Description
This hand-painted bisque porcelain figurine is produced by Gorham as part of the Four Seasons collection, inspired by the 1948 illustrations of Norman Rockwell. Titled Pensive Pals, the piece represents the season of Fall and depicts an elderly man with a pipe and a young boy, both holding walking sticks, standing beside a small dog as they look down at a pile of fallen autumn leaves. The figures are dressed in period-appropriate outdoor attire in a palette of reds, greens, and browns. The top of the integral base features an impressed signature for Norman Rockwell. The underside of the base contains gold printed text stating THIS SELECTION INSPIRED BY Norman Rockwell’s FOUR SEASONS ILLUSTRATIONS FOR 1948 Fall – Pensive Pals FROM THE GIFT WORLD OF GORHAM. A small circular logo containing the letters USA is also present. The figurine includes two separate walking stick accessories.
