Description
A cast iron Christmas tree stand featuring a naturalistic faux bois design. The central cylindrical socket is decorated with relief-cast fern fronds set against a textured wood-grain background, finished with a scalloped upper rim. The stand is supported by three splayed tripod legs modeled to resemble gnarled tree branches or roots with knot details. The socket is designed with three threaded holes to accommodate thumb screws for securing a tree trunk. Two original decorative cast iron thumb screws are present. This style of rustic metalware is characteristic of late 19th to early 20th-century production, frequently attributed to European foundries of the period.
