Description
Lionel O Gauge 259E Steam Locomotive and Lionel Lines whistling tender manufactured by The Lionel Corporation. This set features a locomotive with a die-cast metal shell and an electric motor. The matching tender is constructed of tinplate with metal frames and wheels. The tender contains an internal electrical coil and motor assembly for a whistling function. Identification marks include a rectangular plate above the boiler front bearing the characters 259E. A riveted metal plate on the underside of the motor frame is inscribed LIONEL O GAUGE MOTOR, LUBRICATE BEFORE USING AND WHEN REQUIRED, THE LIONEL CORPORATION N.Y., and MADE IN U. S. OF AMERICA. Both sides of the cab feature a circular decal with a red and blue design. The tender sides feature recessed rectangular placards with raised letters reading LIONEL LINES.
