Description
This two-piece pressed glass lidded dish is crafted in cobalt blue and opaque white slag glass, also known as marble glass. The set consists of a lid in the form of a nesting hen and a coordinating oval base. The hen features detailed molded feathering, a defined comb, and an upright tail. The base is designed with a ruffled, scalloped rim and a relief-molded basketweave pattern on the exterior. The swirling combination of the two glass colors creates a marbled effect unique to each casting. While web research shows a strong consensus for this pattern and colorway being produced by Mosser Glass, no manufacturer’s marks are visible on the interior or underside of this specific example.
