Description
This is a vintage pressed glass covered candy dish in the form of a hen on a nest, produced by L.E. Smith. The piece is crafted in Amberina art glass, characterized by a heat-sensitive color gradient that transitions from a deep ruby red at the crest and tail to a translucent amber-yellow toward the base. The lid features a detailed seated hen with molded feathering and a high-set tail. The base is designed with a deep basketweave texture and an interlocking rim to secure the lid. The interior of both pieces is smooth, and the underside of the base is recessed and unmarked.
