Description
A United States military M7 bayonet, designed for use with the M16 series of rifles, manufactured by the Bauer Ordnance Company. The crossguard is marked US M7 on the obverse and BOC on the reverse. The bayonet features a spear-point carbon steel blade with a false edge and two-piece black checkered plastic grips secured by slotted screws. The pommel contains a spring-loaded dual-lever locking mechanism for attachment to a bayonet lug. It is accompanied by a matching M8A1 scabbard. The scabbard features an olive drab high-impact plastic body with a steel throat and an olive drab cotton webbing hanger. The scabbard throat is marked USM8A1 over P.W.H., indicating production by the Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind. The hanger includes a wire belt hook and a brass snap-fastener retaining strap.
