Description
This lot comprises two vintage ceramic jugs. The first jug, a Ridgways ‘Blackstone’ Royal Semi-Porcelain example, features a cream-colored ovoid body with vertical ribbing on the lower half, a wavy rim, and a C-scroll handle. It is decorated with transfer-printed stylized yellow, dark blue, and orange floral motifs, complemented by a patterned band around the rim. The base is marked ‘BLACKSTONE’, ‘RIDGWAYS’, ‘ROYAL SEMI PORCELAIN’. The second jug is a Mason’s Patent Ironstone ‘Manchu’ pattern jug, distinguished by its octagonal body, scalloped rim, and shaped handle. Its white ground is embellished with a vibrant polychrome transferware decoration of floral and foliage sprays in greens, yellows, oranges, and browns, alongside a small bird or butterfly motif and a decorative rim border. The base is clearly marked ‘MASON’S’, ‘PATENT IRONSTONE’, ‘Manchu’, ‘ENGLAND’, and ‘PERMANENT DETERGENT PROOF DECORATION’ under a crown logo.
The Ridgways jug measures approximately 5.5 inches tall.
The Mason’s jug measures approximately 5 inches tall.
