Lot 98:
Description
A single glazed ceramic pitcher or ewer, attributed to McCoy Pottery and featuring the popular Grapevine pattern, characteristic of mid-century decorative pottery. The vessel is formed with an attached loop handle and a dramatically undulating, scalloped rim. The body is heavily decorated with high relief molding depicting large vine leaves and clusters of grapes. The piece is finished in a glossy, mottled yellow-chartreuse glaze, which is accented by reddish-brown coloring concentrated at the rim and within the deeper recessed areas of the molded decoration, enhancing the three-dimensional effect. The base features an unglazed foot ring showing typical wear. The central depression of the base is filled with thick pooling yellow glaze that partially obscures an impressed, illegible maker’s mark or text.
Height: 9.5 inches
