Description
A two-piece lot comprising an antique cast iron cauldron or kettle and its matching flat lid. The kettle is constructed of heavy cast iron, featuring a rounded body supported by three integrated stub legs, characteristic of early tripod cooking vessels often referred to as bean pots or gypsy cauldrons. The vessel is equipped with attachment points for a bail handle, currently fitted with a wire bail handle having a central wooden grip. A fixed metal ring handle is present on the side of the body. The underside of the kettle bears the raised manufacturer marking SIDNEY. The accompanying cast iron lid is flat and fitted with a solid metal loop handle. The lid bears a blue inventory sticker marked 38.
