Description
A single, hand-carved wooden mask or decorative figure, styled in the manner of African tribal art, exhibiting an elongated form and polychrome decoration. The piece is evocative of the Ciwara Antelope Headdress style. The face is painted in a reddish-pink hue with black painted eyes and scarification marks. It is topped by an elaborate headdress incorporating yellow horns and an abstract looped figure painted red and tan. A ribbed black neck connects the face to a long, tapered base decorated with geometric patterns in blue, yellow, green, and black, terminating in a stylized open jaw structure with carved zigzag teeth. The object features several inventory markings, including the hand-painted number "33" on a blue block on the base and a red sticker reading "206" on the reverse of the headdress.
