Description
A single composite carved wood mask or headdress executed in a tribal or ethnic style. The artifact features an elongated facial element painted predominantly in red and accented with geometric shapes in black, yellow/gold, and blue. The face includes a projecting snout. A superstructure extends above the mask, composed of curved, stylized limbs supporting a separate, smaller bird-like figure. The bird figure is finished in a distressed polychrome palette of blue, turquoise, yellow, and orange. The interior of the mask is hollowed, and a wire hanger is affixed for display.
Overall length is approximately 32 to 33 inches.
