Description
This is a single antique railroad signal lantern, often referred to as a switch or marker lamp, constructed of heavy iron or steel and finished in black paint. The lantern features four protruding lens housings. Two lenses are visible: one corrugated amber or orange glass lens and one corrugated blue or teal glass lens. The remaining two apertures are currently obscured or missing lenses. The lantern is designed to rest on a three-pronged metal spike base, typical of trackside switch lamps. The top features a hinged vent cap. The interior contains a visible oil or kerosene burner assembly. The top cap is embossed with the manufacturer’s mark ADLAKE below the inscription PAT. PEND.
