Lot 84:
Description
A single antique mechanical butter churn apparatus, comprising a large, tapered stoneware crock fitted into a cast iron gearing mechanism mounted on a wooden plank base. The stoneware crock is finished in an off-white glaze and features integral lug handles. The mechanical head is constructed from cast iron, featuring a large flywheel and smaller drive gears typical of early 20th-century churning designs. Raised lettering is visible on the main flywheel, partially legible as: “MADE BY [UNREADABLE] BROS CO. [UNREADABLE] IOWA, ” indicating a regional American manufacturer. The top of the crock is sealed with a dark wood lid penetrated by the churning rods.
