Lot 85:
Description
An antique primitive dash butter churn assembly constructed of darkened, stained wood. The main body consists of a stave-built cylindrical barrel reinforced by two dark metal hoops. The churn includes its original components: a circular wooden lid and a matching dasher mechanism. The dasher features a long wooden rod terminating in a thick, circular wooden paddle or plunger, which is pierced by four drilled agitation holes designed to facilitate the churning process. The assembly displays characteristics consistent with early, functional farm implements. No manufacturer or period markings are visible.
Total height of the barrel and exposed dasher rod extends approximately 40 inches.
