Description
A large, ornate vessel constructed primarily of polished brass, exhibiting characteristics of the Near Eastern or Moorish Revival style. The object features a multi-tiered structure supported by a wide, circular pedestal base decorated with extensively chased or repoussé patterns depicting stylized birds and repeating foliate motifs. The base supports a fluted central stem leading to a wide circular shoulder platform. This platform is also decorated with chased foliate patterns and features two small, decorative scroll handles. The upper body is bulbous and heavily melon-ribbed, capped by a decorative finial. The vessel opens to reveal a heavily oxidized inner lining, likely copper, suggesting prolonged use, possibly for heating liquids. A small paper tag marked "49" is affixed to one handle.
