Description
US 2000 Lincoln cent struck at the Philadelphia Mint, identified by the absence of a mint mark, presented in the original Cheerios cereal promotional packaging. The coin features the Lincoln obverse and is composed of copper-plated zinc. It is housed in a clear plastic blister on a dark gray card printed with the Cheerios logo and the text One of the 10,000,000 First-Minted Year 2000 Coins. The reverse of the card includes a Certificate of Authenticity signed by US Mint Director Philip N. Diehl with serial number A23683. This coin was part of a mass-market promotion to introduce the new millennium coinage.
