Description
A fine china bell manufactured by Gorham in 1980. This item is identified as the First Edition of The Clown Bell. The bell features a porcelain body with a flared rim and a turned wood handle. The interior contains a metal clapper suspended by a chain. The exterior is decorated with a multi-colored transfer-printed illustration by Norman Rockwell, depicting a seated young boy and a clown. The base of the porcelain is finished with a gold-tone band. The interior of the bell is printed with the Gorham heraldic crest, EST 1831, FINE CHINA, U.S.A., THE CLOWN BELL, 1980, and FIRST EDITION. The artist signature, Norman Rockwell, is printed on the exterior below the illustration.
