Description
This two-piece glazed earthenware set consists of a circular base plate and a large domed cover. The cover features a molded quilted or tufted cushion pattern finished in a pale yellow glaze with ochre-colored washes in the recesses to provide depth. A molded white ceramic bow serves as the handle on top, with white ribbons extending down the sides of the dome. Hand-applied metallic gold dots accent the intersections of the quilted pattern and the scalloped pie-crust rim of the base. The interior of the dome and the top surface of the base plate are finished in a white glaze. This style is consistent with mid-to-late 20th-century decorative boutique giftware and is possibly by Cresco Inc. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the surfaces shown.
