Description
An antique miniature trunk or document box of American origin, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The trunk is constructed with a wooden frame wrapped in black-painted sheet metal and reinforced with metal straps and corner guards, all secured with dome-head rivets. The hardware consists of a central metal lock plate with a single keyhole, two side drawbolt latches, and two rear butt hinges. The interior features a single removable wooden lift-out tray. The main body and lid retain portions of a distressed blue-green paper lining over the raw wood frame, while the removable tray is lined with a multi-colored floral patterned paper. No maker marks, manufacturer names, or patent dates were identified on the trunk or its hardware.
