Lot 167:
Description
This collection comprises various embroidered insignia and proficiency badges from the Girl Scouts of the USA, dating from the mid-20th century. The lot includes a set of troop identification numbers 3, 2, and 0 in white on green twill. Membership and level identifiers feature a yellow circular patch with red Cadette script, multiple green trefoil patches with white GS lettering, and a trefoil patch with a decorative red, white, and green ribbon fringe. The group includes several pairs of yellow embroidered wings on green or black backgrounds, which were historically awarded to Senior Girl Scouts. Proficiency badges are present in the form of circular green-bordered patches featuring symbols such as a lyre, a bicycle wheel, a rose, and a sailboat. Other items include triangular and diamond-shaped patches with brown silhouette figures representing outdoor activities, an oval swimming patch, and small brown rectangular patches with white embroidered numbers 1, 4, and 8. The patches are constructed of embroidered thread on twill and felt foundations.
