Lot 175:
Description
This lot features a collection of three American textile bedcoverings representing different eras and construction methods. The first item is a vintage hand-quilted scrap quilt designed with an abstract fan variation pattern. The top is composed of various cotton scrap fabrics including ginghams, stripes, checks, and solids in a palette of pink, blue, red, and black. It features hand-quilting in a grid pattern and a plain light-colored backing with parallel line quilting. The second item is a mid-century tied patchwork comforter. It consists of a simple grid of square patches in a variety of textures and prints, including double-knit polyesters, florals, and geometric patterns. The layers are secured with white yarn ties at the corners of each patch, and the backing is a solid navy blue fabric. The third item is an antique hand-quilted quilt featuring stylized star or floral blocks in navy blue, burgundy, and pink prints, separated by wide yellow and green sashing. The piece displays dense, fine hand-quilting in a small grid pattern and contains heavy cotton batting. A blue tape label with the handwritten number 202 is attached to one piece.
