Description

This lot consists of two mid-century American lithographed advertising tins, including a pocket-sized tobacco tin and a sample-sized coffee tin. The first item is a rectangular Between the Acts Little Cigars pocket tin manufactured by P. Lorillard Co., Richmond, Virginia. The tin features a red and cream lithographed exterior with press points on the lid for opening. The interior lid is decorated with gold-tone lithography containing an illustration of a man smoking and the text Big Cigar Pleasure When Time Is Short, Puff Lightly, and You Need Not Inhale To Enjoy Them. The second item is a cylindrical Luzianne Coffee and Chicory complimentary sample tin produced by Wm. B. Reily and Co. Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana. The red body includes the brand name, traditional logo, and a yellow banner for a Complimentary Sample. The reverse provides brewing instructions with illustrations of teaspoon versus tablespoon measurements. The lid is lithographed with the text Fresher FOR Cigarettes, indicating the tin was designed for reuse as a cigarette container after the coffee sample was used.
