Description

This is a two-piece covered dish in the form of a nesting hen, crafted from amber and white slag glass. The lid is molded into the detailed shape of a hen with textured feathers and a prominent comb. The base features a basket-weave pattern on its exterior walls and a wide, undulating scalloped flange rim. The glass exhibits a marbled effect with a translucent amber base color and opaque creamy-white swirls throughout both pieces. No maker’s marks or embossed logos were identified upon inspection of the lid or base underside. The design and material are characteristic of mid-20th-century American pressed glass manufacturers such as Westmoreland or Imperial Glass Company.
