JULY BOOM
Lot 71:
Description
This two-piece covered dish, commonly known as a Hen on Nest, is crafted from pressed glass featuring a marigold iridescent carnival finish. The item is attributed to Indiana Glass based on the specific mold and finish characteristics common to their mid-20th-century production. The lid is modeled as a nesting hen with detailed molded feathering across the wings and body, a fanned tail, and a distinct comb and beak. The base is designed to resemble a nest, featuring a basketweave or striated texture on the exterior and a decorative beaded or pearl rim. The marigold finish exhibits a range of metallic lusters including gold, orange, and purple tones. While a circular textured area is present on the interior center of the lid, there are no legible manufacturer marks or symbols visible. The base features a smooth, oval-shaped foot.
