Description
A two-piece covered dish in the form of a nesting hen, attributed to the Indiana Glass Company. The set is composed of a molded glass lid and a matching base basket. Crafted from pressed cobalt blue glass, the piece features an applied iridescent metallic luster finish displaying peacock shades of electric blue, green, purple, and gold. The lid is shaped as a detailed hen featuring molded feathers, defined eyes, a comb, and a stippled circular saddle on her back. The base represents a woven nest with a textured exterior and a prominent beaded rim. The underside of the base is smooth, typical of pressed glass construction, and features no pontil scar or visible manufacturer marks.
