Description
A trio of vintage American lithographed tin-plated steel pocket tobacco containers. Each tin features a vibrant red ground with the brand name PRINCE ALBERT in stylized yellow lettering above an oval portrait of Prince Albert, later King Edward VII. The front panels include the text CRIMP CUT and LONG BURNING PIPE AND CIGARETTE TOBACCO, with a weight statement of NET WT. 1 1/2 OZ. One side panel is printed with the manufacturer information R. J. REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO., WINSTON-SALEM, N. C. 27102, U.S.A. The opposing side panel reads FOR PIPE AND CIGARETTE SMOKERS and features a UPC barcode numbered 0 12300 40507. The top edge of the body includes the instruction PUSH UP with directional arrows. The gray metal lids are embossed with the characters P, R, I, N, C, E, A, L, B, E, R, T. Affixed to the lids are various vintage paper labels, including two blue and yellow adhesive stickers reading GROCERY 71c and a partial tax stamp reading ALABAMA 5 CENTS TOBACCO TAX.
