Description
A United States silver Peace Dollar dated 1926 and struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a radiate crown, with the literal inscriptions LIBERTY across the top, IN GOD WE TRVST flanking the neck, and the date 1926 at the base. The reverse depicts an eagle perched on a rock clutching an olive branch, with sun rays emanating from the lower right. Literal transcriptions on the reverse include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM at the top, ONE DOLLAR across the center, and PEACE at the base. A small impressed letter S mint mark is located on the reverse, positioned to the left of the eagle’s tail feathers and below the word ONE (photo 3). The coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper.
