Description
A US silver Peace dollar minted in 1923. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse features the date 1923 along the bottom margin, the legend LIBERTY along the top, and the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST in the right field. The reverse displays the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM along the upper edge, the denomination ONE DOLLAR across the center, and the word PEACE at the bottom. A small, impressed lowercase letter s is positioned on the reverse below the eagle’s tail feathers, indicating it was struck at the San Francisco Mint. This series was issued to commemorate the end of World War I.
