Lot 198:
Description
A mid-20th-century American ceramic covered casserole dish. The piece is constructed of glazed stoneware with a round, vertically fluted body and a matching domed lid featuring a circular knob handle. It is finished in a uniform, glossy dark reddish-brown glaze. Both the interior of the vessel and the underside of the lid are glazed. The base features an unglazed foot ring and an impressed mark reading USA within a rectangular border. This fluted pattern was produced by several American potteries during the mid-century period, including Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co.
