Description
A collection of thirteen vintage embroidered Girl Scout patches and insignia, primarily associated with the Deep South Council (D.S.G.S.C.). This assortment documents council activities, cookie sales, and commemorative events from the early 1970s through the early 1980s. The pieces are constructed from machine-embroidered threads on fabric and felt backings.
The collection includes:
– Commemorative and Jubilee Patches: A shield-shaped Reunion-Jubilee 1935-1971 DSGSC patch featuring a map of Mississippi; an International Jubilee Year 1979 circular patch; and a Deep South Girl Scout Council Jubilee patch depicting a girl in a green beret.
– Cookie Sale Awards: I Made My 1980 Goal Cookie Sale round patch; a Cookie Fun 81 rectangular patch with an eagle mascot; a 1975 Deep South Girl Scouts Cookie Sale patch; and an undated Deep South Girl Scouts Cookie Sale round patch.
– Program and Milestone Patches: Two circular patches featuring a banjo and musical notes over a yellow trefoil; an American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976 Girl Scouts rectangular patch; a Rockwood USA Girl Scouts patch with architectural and landscape details; and a 1974 Historic Treasure Trails patch.
– Identification Rockers: A curved green felt Bridge to Juniors rocker with gold lettering and a red and dark green Deep South Council identification rocker.
