Description
A two-piece vintage pressed glass covered dish in a translucent olive green hue. The vessel is modeled in the classic hen on nest form. The lid is shaped like a nesting hen and features molded textural details, including layered feathers on the wings and body, a prominent comb, and an upright tail. The oval base features an exterior basket-weave texture and a beaded rim. Embossed markings are present on the underside of the base along the outer rim of the foot. The lower curve is marked MADE IN TAIWAN, and the upper curve features a copyright symbol followed by a string of characters that are not clearly legible. This style and color were popular in mid-century American households, and while the design closely resembles patterns historically produced by the Indiana Glass Company, the embossed markings indicate this specific item was manufactured in Taiwan for the export market.
