Description
A decorative handbell produced by Hofbauer of West Germany as part of the Byrdes Collection. The bell is constructed from 24 percent lead crystal with a clear body featuring pressed diamond and starburst patterns. The handle is an applied glass figurine in the form of a bird, finished in a deep ruby red color. The interior contains a clear glass bead clapper suspended from a metal chain. The exterior retains an original gold foil label that reads Hofbauer and includes text stating Echt Bleikristall, Made in Germany, Lead Crystal, Cristal au Plomb, and Over 24 percent.
