Description
A group of three United States two-dollar legal tender notes, identifiable by their red treasury seals and red serial numbers. The collection includes two Series 1963 notes and one Series 1953 A note. All obverses feature the portrait of Thomas Jefferson. The reverses depict Monticello, Jefferson’s Virginia estate. The Series 1963 notes (serial numbers A 08230193 A and A 06821648 A) bear the signatures of Treasurer Kathryn O’Hay Granahan and Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon; these notes include the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. The Series 1953 A note (serial number A 60147831 A) bears the signatures of Ivy Baker Priest and Robert B. Anderson and lacks the religious motto on the reverse, consistent with the production standards of that series.
