Description
A decorative single-edged dagger or letter opener featuring an ornate filigree hilt. The handle is composed of a cylindrical core wrapped in sterling silver metalwork, showcasing intricate wire scrolls and granulated bands. A small rectangular hallmark stamped 925 is located on the ferrule near the bolster, identifying the silver purity. The steel blade is single-edged with a slight upward curve and a thick integral bolster at the junction with the handle. The hilt is secured with a dark resinous substance visible at the open butt end.
