Lot 93:
Commemorative Cobalt Blue Porcelain Christmas 1987 Snowflake Bell
Description
A commemorative porcelain bell featuring a cobalt blue glazed exterior and a white glazed interior. The bell is topped with a molded porcelain handle in the shape of a white and blue snowflake. The body is decorated with a multi-color transfer print depicting a group of children in winter attire singing carols or gathered outdoors near snow-covered trees, accompanied by a small dog. The reverse side features the text Christmas 1987 printed in a gold-colored script. A gold-toned band accents the rim of the bell. The interior contains a gold-tone chain suspended from the center, terminating in a white bead clapper. A circular backstamp is printed near the interior rim, where the partial characters IOS COLLECT can be read; the remainder of the mark is obscured by the curve of the ceramic body and is not fully legible.
