OCTOBER 20
Lot 100:
Description
This lot features an antique bent billiard-shaped tobacco pipe accompanied by a fitted hard-shell presentation case. The pipe bowl is constructed from briar with a dark, aged finish. It is accented by an ornate, repoussé-style metal rim guard and a matching ferrule, both featuring pierced scroll and floral motifs. The side of the bowl is decorated with a hand-engraved cursive script monogram appearing to read ELC. The stem is fashioned from a translucent amber-colored material with a screw-threaded tenon. The fitted case features a brown leather-wrapped exterior and a green velvet-lined interior. A gold-leaf stamp inside the case features the letters C.P.F. inside an oval cartouche with the word MAKERS positioned below. This mark identifies the piece as a product of the Colossus Pipe Factory.
