Description
This lot includes two canteen assemblies. The first is an authentic United States military issue set from the World War II era. The aluminum canteen features a horizontal seam and a black plastic screw cap secured by a metal chain. It is paired with an aluminum nesting cup featuring a folding wire handle. The base of the cup is stamped U.S. S.M. CO 1944, identifying the manufacturer as the Southeastern Metals Company. A veteran identification, HM HOPS USA, is handwritten in black marker on the base of the cup. The second assembly consists of a WWII pattern OD number 3 canvas cover and a commercial aluminum canteen. The cover is constructed of olive drab canvas with a fleece lining and features metal wire belt hooks and two lift-the-dot fasteners marked KLIKIT PULL. The canteen features a polished finish and a ribbed black plastic cap. The base of this canteen is stamped JAPAN, identifying it as a post-war commercial or souvenir item.
