Lot 6:
Description
This lot contains three US Standing Liberty silver quarter dollars. Based on the reverse design featuring an eagle in flight with three stars positioned below it, these examples represent the Type 2 or Type 3 variety produced between 1917 and 1930. The coins are composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse features the Standing Liberty design with visible inscriptions including LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The designer initial M for Hermon A. MacNeil is visible on the lower right of the pedestal. No mint marks are discernible on the left side of the pedestal, suggesting Philadelphia Mint production. The reverse displays an eagle in flight with the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and QUARTER DOLLAR partially legible on some examples. One coin shows a prominent diagonal mark or lamination flaw across the eagle’s left wing on the reverse.
