Description
A two-piece glazed earthenware covered dish in the traditional hen-on-nest form. The upper lid is molded into the shape of a nesting hen with detailed feather textures. It features a cobalt blue sponged or mottled decorative border along the rim. The matching oval base features a fluted exterior design and a corresponding blue sponged border on its scalloped rim. Both pieces are finished with a clear, high-gloss glaze. The underside of the base features an incised molded mark reading MADE IN CHINA. This form is commonly used as a decorative server for butter or eggs.
