Description
This sterling silver commemorative coin was issued for the British Virgin Islands as part of The Treasure Coins of the Caribbean series produced by The Franklin Mint. The coin has a denomination of Twenty Dollars and is struck in .925 sterling silver with a proof-like finish. The visible face of the coin features a central square frame enclosing a depiction of a 1715 Spanish colonial cob coin featuring the Cross of Jerusalem. Struck in relief, the legend reads TWENTY to the left and DOLLARS to the right of the central square. Two stylized mirrored sea creatures are positioned at the base of the frame. The coin is housed in a clear protective capsule and presented in a black textured cardboard folder. The folder features printed text in white reading THE FRANKLIN MINT at both the top and bottom edges. The irregular design within the central square includes the date 1715 visible at the top left.
