Lot 72:
Schylling Circus Themed Tin Lithograph Humming Top
Description
A Chinese-made tin lithograph pumping humming top featuring a circus theme. The top is decorated with illustrations of clowns and elephants in various poses, accented by colorful circular motifs in red, blue, green, and yellow. The upper section of the toy is constructed of lithographed tin with a red plastic handle at the peak. The underside is decorated with concentric rings of yellow, green, red, and blue. The assembly includes a yellow plastic central mechanism housing and a blue plastic base stand. Operation is achieved through a pumping action of the handle, which rotates the internal mechanism and forces air through vertical sound vents in the tin body. A printed mark on the blue underside reads More Fun From Schylling Rowley, MA 01969 www.schylling.com above a small circular logo depicting a running figure and the text © 2001. Faint white characters on the blue ring above the base read MADE IN CHINA.
