Brewton BASH!
Lot 92:
Description
A pair of US half dollars dated 1964, composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. The obverse of each coin features the profile portrait of John F. Kennedy, with a small raised monogram reading GR at the base of the neck truncation. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 1 9 6 4. The reverse displays the Frank Gasparro design based on the Presidential Seal, with inscriptions reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR. No mint mark is present on the reverse above the L in HALF, signifying production at the Philadelphia Mint. Both specimens are housed in square, clear plastic protective holders. The coins exhibit bright luster with distinctive golden-yellow peripheral toning on both the obverse and reverse surfaces. This was the final year of 90% silver half dollar production for circulation in the US.
