Lot 86:
Description
A trio of Japanese hand-painted matte-finished ceramic figurines featuring pastoral themes. The set comprises three distinct designs: a boy in a teal jacket and maroon trousers walking with a rucksack and a white goose; a boy dressed in light green overalls and a red neckerchief holding a hammer and a block of wood; and a boy in a blue jacket seated on a fence post under a large brown umbrella with a white goose beside him. Each figure is rendered in a muted color palette on an unglazed, off-white base. The underside of the boy with the rucksack features a blue underglaze mark consisting of the text Designed by Erich Stauffer above a symbol of two crossed arrows and the digits 8343. The underside of the boy with the hammer bears a red and gold foil adhesive label in a shield shape reading Ucagco CERAMICS JAPAN.
